After church thoughts (3-11-07)

The sun is shining! I see spots of green in my lawn! I think spring is coming! YAHOO!

We had a great weekend of ministry! Some highlights…

  • We are in week two of our Struggling With God series! Today Pastor Vern talked about “Struggling with God when I don’t want to do what He wants me to.” He did a great job!
  • The message today was based on the book of Jonah, and the “Big Idea” was “I will obey God even when I don’t understand Him.”
  • We ministered to 918 this week!
  • We started something new this week… lighting a candle for each person that has been brought to Christ the previous week! We had eight candles lit this week! (5 of these were from a couple weeks ago @ the Circle C camp – way to go Young Teen Leaders!). Let’s set the smoke alarms off church!
  • Already this weekend there are two more new people in the Kingdom! It was AWESOME to watch people coming down to the front of the church to commit or recommit their lives to fully obeying the call of God! Church, can you imagine what it’s gonna be like with hundreds… thousands of fully committed followers of Jesus Christ!
  • I realize that as we keep bringing people to Jesus it is mission critical that each follower of Christ makes a commitment to be in a discipling relationship! If you know Jesus Christ we’re gonna keep you busy! If you know Jesus Christ it is time to start asking this question, “Who can I build?” We’re gonna need a LOT of people to help disciple the ones we bring to Christ this year! Will you help?
  • I heard a couple GREAT stories about Thursdays… both stories about young people who wouldn’t come to “normal church” but are willing to go to our Thursday service (18-30 year old target audience – though you can go if your over 30… I am!)! Church, we’ve gotta keep praying like crazy for this service! I’ve been talking with Anthony about two things: 1) Marketing this service; 2) Preparing for the influx of new unchurched/unsaved people! We’re going to have our hands FULL and we’re going to need your prayers, your time, your money, and your love as this ministry keeps reaching an unchurched, frustrated generation!
  • We dedicated two awesome “Little Men” today… Paul Yoder and Logan Clark! I love that part of being a pastor! It is GREAT to stand with parents who love God and want their children to belong to Him! “God, bless these families and keep their children in your will. May your grace be poured out on their lives and they bring you pleasure forever. Amen.”

  1. What a wonderful report!! I believe we had another teen give their life to Christ today too–another candle on the altar! Unfortunately I wasn’t in church today to hear the great sermon from Vern (but I’m sure it was) and I didn’t get to witness the conversion or be a part of a great discussion time in senior teens because Christian has a bad cold and I didn’t want to expose all the other kids in his class to it. I really miss the whole “church” experience when I’m not there, which how many people go to a church they say that about!! Keep up the great work church staff and we’ll be here to help and support you!! Can’t you hear the angels rejoicing!!
