Sheesh… I keep getting good news that makes me cry! I’m gonna have to ride a bull or enter an ultimate fighting contest just to get the testosterone levels back up!!!
This morning I received the news that a church has decided to partner with us by providing our health insurance for the next year! That’s HUGE!
You know, I’ve thought a lot about whether or not to blog about all of this “stuff” and I finally decided to go ahead and do it. As I see it, I can tell this story twenty years from now as some crusty sermon illustration or I can tell it NOW as it’s happening! The subtitle of this blog is “Life is a journey and I’m traveling out loud” and that happens to be my philosophy of life, so I decided to go ahead and share what’s going on “under the hood”!
This morning I read something that totally sums up how I feel…
“Praise the LORD! I will praise the LORD with all my heart as I meet with his godly people. How amazing are the deeds of the LORD! All who delight in him should ponder them. Everything he does reveals his glory and majesty. His righteousness never fails. Who can forget the wonders he performs? How gracious and beautiful is our LORD! He gives food to those who trust him; he always remembers his covenant. (Psalm 111:1-5 NLT)
I am rock-solid in my belief that God has called our family to start a new church with a laser-tight focus on connecting disconnected people back to God, the church, other people, and the world.
Sure, we’re early in this journey, but I’m gonna tell you straight out… God is blowing my mind with how He’s caring for us as we pour our lives out for His church!
It’s crazy, but in talking with Sherri this morning we both agreed… we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Paul I am so glad you are sharing your journey, it inspires me. As I have read your journey I am reminded of scripture that God gave me in a time….He said move, I had children, I was scared, I didn’t know the future but his word gave me clear direction and has proven true over and over again:
Nehemiah 2:1-8
1 In the month of Nisan(late spring) in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was brought for him, I took the wine and gave it to the king. I had not been sad in his presence before; 2 so the king asked me, “Why does your face look so sad when you are not ill? This can be nothing but sadness of heart.”
I was very much afraid, 3 but I said to the king, “May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my fathers are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”
4 The king said to me, “What is it you want?”
Then I prayed to the God of heaven, 5 and I answered the king, “If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my fathers are buried so that I can rebuild it.”
6 Then the king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked me, “How long will your journey take, and when will you get back?” It pleased the king to send me; so I set a time.
7 I also said to him, “If it pleases the king, may I have letters to the governors of Trans-Euphrates, so that they will provide me safe-conduct until I arrive in Judah? 8 And may I have a letter to Asaph, keeper of the king’s forest, so he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?” And because the gracious hand of my God was upon me, the king granted my requests.
God does a wonderful thing, He opened gates that were closed or unpassable,
the city was rebuilt. The moving force could only be God!!!!
I am so thankful for what God is doing for your family and your ministry. We serve an awesome God!
Paul,
Your family is beautiful!!!
Your God is AWESOME. I’m sure you have been on you knees over all this journey, and now God is rewarding you. You are one Blessed man.
