I'm actually finding it hard to believe that this is how you saw the beatitudes in the first place! Through all your religious training this "version" of the beatitudes was never mentioned or taught? That surprises me!

I'm glad you've found this teaching and it has helped change your views of how you should try and live!

I was raised Christian, but no longer practice actively. It was "misconceived" teachings such as these that drove me away.

I did not find spirit in the church I attended. I did find spirit in American Indian teachings, thank goodness, for I was truly lost.

This is a great post! It dives right into the center of what can become wrong in religion, politics, and life in general. People either perceive things incorrectly, or TWIST things in an effort to control. Jesus & God are not looking to condemn us. They are not looking to impale us with their wrath.

These types of "interpretations" are conceived from men (notice I didn't mention women here) looking to control people. They drag God down into the realm of ego because that is where they live, that is what they know.

No matter what God you worship, I believe he has not ego. How could he? He's God, He's all things. He's Buddha, Wakkan Tanka, Jesus, the tree in your yard, the air you breathe...

As usual, I digress. But your posts are great thought provokers. And THAT is great preaching. You lead people to the banquet and let THEM decide what to eat! If God wanted "servants," we'd all be maids, or well trained dogs.

Peace,

Joey
