Absolutely wonderful. I love it. It's so refreshing when you see someone who truly gets what a church is really supposed to be about. Christ died for all sinners, yet sometimes we find it hard to even acknowledge, let alone welcome, those who are viewed as being "too" sinful. What an amazing thing to see those who need Him most finding Him.

great post! I recently heard someone say that if our churches say they don't care about numbers or what people come to their church, they are really saying, all of those numbers and people that we don't have can (and I quote) "go to hell". We HAVE to care about the people and the numbers, because the numbers represent PEOPLE who are on their way to hell.
We cant wait to come visit your area one of these days!

I agree with you and I believe if you are in the area, Christians should stand up to them. Someone needs to go into their church and give them a fire and brimstone message that they are perverting the Gospel. It would be nice to see some do to Westboro what Jesus did to the Temple in Jerusalem

This is great. Are you newly bivocational? I'm on staff at a church in Western New York (I see you were in Batavia at one point. That's not too far from me) but I'm itching to shift into bivocational mode. Shooting for an online business of some kind (think: tentmaker meets 4-hour work week). I'm not sure why. Kind of resonates with me.

I follow Hyatt too. This is one if those moments for me where I read about something and I find the precise word that describes what I've been thinking of or working on for some time. This time it's "responsiveness". I don't always respond to others for some of the same reasons you listed Paul. Sometimes I just draw a blank and say nothing. Sometimes I want to think and listen instead of talking. I've been making a conscious effort to be quicker with my responsiveness, in turn be more engaged. I've also found my voice through God. Through a quick prayer I find his voice, his words. It actually feels like I'm being more like myself.
