Catalytic Quotes: Part 1

2007 was the first time I’ve attended Catalyst. It was an incredible experience! I’m going to post a series of articles highlighting some of the “best of” quotes.

The “Money Quote” on Wednesday (pre-conference labs) was by Shawn Lovejoy.

Speaking of what it takes to be a church planter, he said, “The emotional fortitude that it requires to be a church planter is unparalleled.”

When Shawn said this, all of a sudden the last few years of my life were put into context!

Several speakers referred to the fact that church planting seems to be “in vogue”. They spoke to the fact that church planting is one of the toughest things you can do, but when you’re called by God to do it, it is also one of the most fulfilling!

I appreciated Shawn’s honesty and I appreciate the fact that God has used the last few years of ministry to prepare me for the days ahead!

Emotional fortitude, I believe, is the result of a clear sense of what God has called you to do. It is maintained through prayer, accountability, and personal maintenance (e.g. diet, exercise, etc.).

Thanks Shawn for keeping it real!
