One of my church planting mentors told me that “finding a building is one of the hardest parts of starting a new church.” I don’t know if it’s THE hardest, but it does take a lot of time, energy, and creativity.
Today at 1:00 we will be touring a local elementary school!
Please pray for favor as we meet with the principle and all parties involved.
Writing to encourage you. You never know what type of spiritual break through occurred at that event… I remember lots and lots of days like that at Storehouse. Our first Sunday drew 80 folks; our second 30. Our first Christmas had around 20 or so. Since we were largely a church of college students, every holiday killed us (Christmas and Easter were some of our lowest attended Sunday’s for the first 3 years of our church – all the students went home to their parents church). We called those days, “be faithful Sundays”. God uses them in ways that are beyond us – our job is to remain faithful to HIM.
Keep it up. Here’s a verse I clung to as we launched Storehouse (and still cling to today).
1 Thessalonians 5:24 (NIV)
“The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.”
The last phrase of that verse doesn’t make our work less, but it really takes the pressure off…
