Check out these words from David and then let’s have a conversation:
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. 4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. (Psalm 1 NIV)
In life there are two sources of insight: God and people.
The insights that come from God, when followed, lead to blessing.
The insights that come from people that are separated from God lead to destruction.
Where you get your insights from and the sources that shape your opinions will determine the success or destruction of your life.
A couple of thoughts:
- Time spent reading and meditating on the Bible (aka “God’s Word”) is an investment in a good life.
- Time spent reading, listening to, and asking questions of people who know God is also an investment in a good life.
- Actions taken after gaining insight from God and His people are steps towards a meaningful, good life.
So here’s the question, “Who is shaping your opinions?”
