One of my favorite verses in the Bible is 2 Corinthians 5:17: “…those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun!”

I particularly like this verse as we head into a new year! It’s pretty neat how God builds “new” into life at so many points:

• Every measure of time offers “new” (e.g. second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year, etc.).
• Every person we meet holds the possibility of “new” (friendship, job, learning experience, etc.)
• Birth, death, marriage, divorce, summer, school time, etc…. everywhere you look there is “new”

Today we’ve just put our foot over the start line of a NEW year! A year filled with promise… potential… hope!

New people to meet… new lessons to learn… new journeys to take… new projects to start and complete… new mountains to climb and weights to move…

I hope that today you will look at the idea of “new” and embrace it! It is something to be loved!

I hope too that you will consider Jesus as you move into 2013… He could very possibly be (I’d bet a dollar that He is) the most significant “new” you discover this year!

So go for it! Love the new! Run to it! Embrace it! Be transformed by it!
