This morning I thought, “I’m Christian-Lite” you could drink a lot of me before you get drunk.” I’m tired of that!

I want to be so saturated with God that it only takes a little exposure to get the buzz on!

What’s the key? The key is a life that is totally controlled by The Holy Spirit of God.

The Bible talks a lot about the Holy Spirit.

When we believe in Jesus Christ, God gives us His Spirit. (Ephesians 1:13; 2 Corinthians 1:22)

The Holy Spirit:

  • Fills our hearts with God’s love (Romans 5:5)
  • Reminds us regularly that we are God’s children (Romans 8:16)
  • Reminds us that better days are coming and helps us to pray in the times of duress here (Romans 8:23, 26)
  • Rearranges our lifestyle from self-centered to God/others centered (Galatians 5:16-25)
  • Gives us power to love others and tell them about the hope and new life we’ve discovered when we believed in and turned control of our lives over to Jesus (Acts 1:8)

Hey, bottom line here is that “Christian-Lite” is ridiculous in light of the fact that we have GOD living in us!

As Christians, we have God living in us!

I’m recommitting to listening to and obeying the Holy Spirit of God living in me!

No more Christian-lite! I want to be so filled with God that I ooze grace and love on everyone who comes in contact with me… and I want that for you too!

Let’s fully surrender to the leadership of Jesus, ask God to fill us with His Holy Spirit, and move out as a strong, loving, team of warriors for our Leader!

    Spot on with this; “As Christians, we have God living in us!”

    Reality is that without some effort on our part it doesn’t just happen. God requires action from us; a partnership if you will. I liken it to the “couch quarterback” or the “walter mitty suburban comando warrior” syndrome. It’s cool and sometimes even convincing to talk an impassioned “walk.” Where does the rubber hit the road though? I think it takes implementation of the disciplined walk. The Spiritual Disciplines and major accountability partners in the process is a good starting point following the heart and soul consecration to God first. Once the decision is made to follow Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength…then the harder work of wholly doing it begins. The old adage “actions speak louder than words,” is very appropriate and applicable in this case.

    Questions:
    I want to play golf like Tiger…(how much effort and hours of practice are you putting in?)
    I want to QB like Peyton Manning…(what kind of student of the game are you and what is your training regimine?)
    I want to walk as Jesus walked…(how close to the Father are you walking??? Can you say you are truly One and you only do what you see the Father do?)

    The provision is there… “As Christians, we have God living in us!”
    Are we living as thought we really believe that?

    I gotta agree with Jeff. My life has been forever changed, just for having met you & Sherri, let alone being called a friend.

    Grace? You absolutely ooze. Love? Can’t escape it when you are around.

    But I see where you are going with this. Once you have some of what God wants for you, all you can think about is getting more & more. To others, you are a powerhouse, but to yourself, you know that there is more to be had, and by gum! you are out to get it.

    Paul,
    Just wanted to give you a word of encouragement. We used your post to launch into some great thoughts with the teens last night in Youth Group. We used your challenge to call the group to “pursuing more” (eg. having a disatisfaction with our current level of spiritual growth)of God. I challenged them with Col. 1:9-12 and a “life of worth”. Thanks for sharing in our YG even though you were miles away!

    I too am frustrated with myself about how much other junk I let steal “the first cup with Jesus” time. I can relate to the “I could drink a lot more” statement that you made.

    Oh to be filled with the perfect knowledge (wisdom and understanding) of that God relationship that brings forth a life that is in all ways pleasing to Him. Filled in the same way that Paul said “be filled with the Holy Spirit”. I want to literally be God-intoxicated — in a holy way, not a goofy way.
