Snake in the yard!

Talking on the phone this a.m. I looked over the edge of the back porch railing and saw this snake! AHHH!!! Get off the phone. Put on shoes. Grab shovel! Dismember snake!

    Was it a poisonous snake? Did killing it also suddenly increase your backyard rodent population? Will it’s much larger and now, angrier mate snake seek you out and avenge it’s death?
