This day will matter twenty years from now

Recently I’ve been asking myself this question, “Will it matter twenty years from now?” Today I answered “Yes.” It’s not like I’m looking for things to do this week! It’s not like I’m looking for things to do this week! I’m working on three sermons, shooting video for two sermons tomorrow, preparing for our South Carolina trip with the staff on Wednesday, prepping for Management Team meeting, etc.  Kinda busy!

A number of kids from Northgate go to St. Paul Lutheran school. Today was their “Bring your pastor to chapel” day. I struggled back and forth… “Do I go? If I do there’s things that aren’t going to get done. Do I stay? If I do I miss a chance to hang out with the little people that Jesus said the “Kingdom belongs to!”

As I wrestled I asked myself “The Question”, “Will it matter twenty years from now”. As I thought about it, it occurred to me that twenty years from now no one is going to care about or remember the paperwork that got done today. Chances are people may not even remember what I preach about three weeks from now… though I’d desperately like to think otherwise! 8)

Yea, so twenty years from now no one will care about or even remember what “study” was done, but a lot of little people will remember that three pastors from Northgate showed up for “Take your pastor to chapel day” today! Thanks Vern and Darlene for coming too!

It was awesome to see our kids “show off” for us! I love these little people and am thrilled to be their pastor!

It’s a great question to ask, “Will this matter twenty years from now?”

Some pictures from this grand day…

Thanks kids for inviting us! We love you!

    Whey to Go Paul!

You are 100% correct about it making a difference in the life of a child by taking time out for them. It will make a difference in the years ahead! Thank you for spending time with Northgate’s youth the church’s future! Northgate’s pastors are great!

You sure are a long term thinker…though…
I think of “will it make a difference a year from now?” and you think 20 years. (Maybe it’s the age difference, you young thing, HAHA)
You keep investing time into youth and they will keep you young at heart and you’ll never grow old. (Look at us, Wells’, Darlene and Vern)
Thank you to everyone who invests time into out future church!
    Love ya all!
